Our client is an international legal practice that is looking to expand the Solutions team that sits in its Bristol office. A 6-month FTC is on offer, providing flexibility to those who may be pursuing a training contract, but also to the firm since this is a relatively new function so they may offer a full time contract if the six months go well. You will gain great exposure to clients, partners at the firm and experience in developing tailor-made solutions to clients’ problems.
The Solutions team serves not only the firm’s clients, but also the firm itself. While a key component of this role will involve getting to know the clients and their problems, the firm also uses the Solutions group to foster innovative ideas to increase efficiency and come up with new ways of practising law.
You will be involved in gathering the clients’ requirements, the design and testing of solutions using HighQ or the firm’s internal coding tools (with training), as well as document automation. You will also be required to produce drafts of project documentation and will be assigned other duties as part of the project management process.
In an emerging field like LegalTech, a critical component is understanding exactly what problem a law firm’s client is facing before attempting to build a solution. Hence the firm’s need to hire people into the Solutions team with experience of practising law, whether as a senior paralegal or a recently qualified lawyer.
The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, one that is prepared to experiment and fail in the pursuit of the solution to a problem. While coding experience would certainly be helpful, more important is a questioning mindset, a willingness to get stuck into a new challenge and disrupt the practice of law.
